Million Lesson Secrets #57: SET-UP

DEJA VU:
Creating a Sound, Repeatable Set-up Coach Doug Rikkers, GolfTEC HQ/Denver, CO

REASON SECRET IS REVEALED:
This is a critical step to a consistent golf swing, regardless of club.

CHANGE RECOMMENDED:
Develop a pre-shot routine that works for you. Don't allow difficult course conditions, impatient playing partners, or previous poor shots rewrite your pre-shot script, but focus on the regimen you establish in the teaching bay and on the driving range.

OTHER FACTORS:
Stay with it during a round of play. If you decide a change is needed, work it out during practice sessions instead on the remaining holes. The goal is to put you in the same mental framework and physical alignment shot after shot.

RESULTS TO ANTICIPATE:
Within three months, a score reduction of three to five shots is achievable for mid-handicap players to adopt a pre-shot routine.

COMMON FALSE STARTS:
A total lack of preparation or intentionality before a shot allows too many variables become overwhelming. Likewise, the "Thought of the Day" pulled from the Internet or cable TV can't be integrated that very same day, but tried during pre-play practice rounds.
