STEP INTO THE RING: Punch for Power
Coach Scott Young, West Palm Beach, Fla.
REASON SECRET IS REVEALED
Create a full shoulder turn without a long, uncontrollable swing.
CHANGE RECOMMENDED
Start your backswing with your right shoulder pulling straight back. As your shoulders turn, push out away from your body with your left arm, stopping your left arm once it reaches the same height as your right shoulder.
OTHER FACTORS
Practice without a club first to get the feel of how your shoulders rotate as your left arm extends. Even though you feel like your swing is short when you stop at shoulder height, this is a full golf swing.
RESULTS TO ANTICIPATE
You will increase power and consistency with this change.
COMMON FALSE STARTS
Don’t just shorten your swing by making an “all-arms” backswing. It is very important to still create a full shoulder turn when making this change.
Increase power and consistency in your swing by following the technique revealed in this lesson.
