WHAT'S IN THE BAG?

Driver: TaylorMade R9 SuperTri TP, 9.5-degree; Fujikura Motore shaft, R-Flex

I love the versatility of this club! It’s set up in the Neutral Upright position with standard weight configuration—with a repeatable golf swing this club performs as advertised. The ability to change the weight configuration in addition to the lie angle makes this club perfect for any swing.

Fairway woods: TaylorMade R9 TP 3-wood, 15-degree; Fujikura Motore shaft, R-Flex

I like to keep the shafts the same so I don’t compensate for a different feel during my swing. Mainly a mind thing, but it keeps it simple. I also have this set to Neutral Upright because I hate to miss it right. Length is standard.

Hybrids: TaylorMade Rescue 09 TP, 19- and 22-degree

I love these clubs! The TP (Tour Preferred) version has a slightly smaller head, a more neutral clubface and is adjustable. These are also extremely versatile. I have no fear of long fairway bunker shots any more. The wide sole of the hybrids easily glides through the sand (or rough) and launches the ball high and lands it soft. I use them off the tee box on short par 4s and around the green when it is too long to use a putter. I replaced my 3- and 4- iron with these clubs and don’t miss them a bit.

Irons: TaylorMade Tour Preferred 5-PW, Dynamic Gold R300, 2-degrees flat; standard length

I was a bit stubborn at first but I’m so glad I went to a more flexible shaft. My club head speed is border line between regular and stiff flex, but I found that I like the feel of the shaft when it “kicks” so I went with a regular flex. After using GolfTEC's Perrsonal Club Fitting process, I have found one of the most common problems is using a shaft that is too stiff. Another big change is going to a smaller grip. My hands are small and I have broken my left wrist a couple of times so the smaller grip helps me control the clubface better. I probably would be even better off if I switched to graphite shafts because they would be easier on my body and I would be able to swing faster but I’m still kind of old school. My next set of irons will definitely be graphite because I am not getting any younger or stronger.

Wedges: TaylorMade ZTP 52-, 56- and 60- degrees with R300 shafts, 2-degrees flat

I like these wedges but will be switching to the new XFT wedges because of ability to change the faces with the new groove rules going into effect. I don’t play on Tour but I like to stay within the rules.

Putter: TaylorMade Monza Spider; center shaft 33-inches

At first I could not stand the look of this club. I had always been a Scotty Cameron guy and used a Newport 2 Pro Platinum like Tiger does. Only problem is Tiger is a great putter. I need all the help I can get and I finally got it with this putter. It helps with alignment and the forgiveness of off-center hits is amazing. As a traditionalist the look of this putter is very hard to get used to, but the confidence this putter has given me on the greens makes it worth it.

Ball: Srixon Tri Speed

Doing a lot of ball fittings convinced me of the need for a properly fit golf ball. I especially like a ball that feels soft off the face. I don’t have blazing club head speed so a ball that feels a little softer compresses better for me. I tested a lot of golf balls before settling on this one. Having options is also what I like about the GolfTEC Personal Club Fitting. When a computer finds your perfect match, there is no brand bias!
