Client of the Month
GolfTEC Clayton client of the month is Rod Jones. Rod is a big student of the game of golf and really wants to improve his game. That is one of the main reasons that he came to GolfTEC. Rod has been working with Coach Doug Castellari for three months. Since his first lesson, Rod has lowered his handicap from 18 a good solid 13 in just a short period of time. One of Rod's biggest obstacles was a lack of distance but now he drives the ball 15 to 20 yards farther. The proper equipment has helped also. We look forward to seeing much more of Rod and watching him improve. His goal is to break 78 by mid to late summer. Good Luck Rod!

New Demo Equipment:
GolFTEC Clayton would like you to stop in and try the new Ping Tour W Wedges. The Ping tour wedges offer increased versatility and higher spin rates for players seeking a high performance wedge with classic looks. The compact head and rounded sole allow golfers to hit almost any shot from any lie, and the machined face and grooves help them stop the ball faster, especially on short shots around the green, in wet or dry conditions.

Soffset, making it easy to for the golfer to align the clubface. A small cavity adds forgiveness, and the center of gravity is positioned to produce a penetrating, consistent ball flight.

We have wedges in all lofts and and bounce angles for you to try. Lets get you custom fitted for one today.

Tip of the Month
DIAL IN YOUR SHORT WEDGE PLAY
What is it that makes great players great, other than pure ball striking and power through each shot? In short, it is their competence and ability to maintain distance control and ball flight inside 100 yards of the green. Here are a few key things you need to make sure of while pitching onto the green. First, setup with the ball middle and hands slightly forward of the ball. Take a slightly narrower stance than normal and lean a bit toward the target as this will encourage a downward decent into the ball. Next, take light grip pressure using soft hands and arms, allowing your tension to stay light from the start.  Body control is the next big feature of great players. A great motto to tell yourself for getting this control is “HINGE, TURN and HOLD.” Wedge play does require a bit of a wrist hinge to encourage a good flow with the action. After your “HINGE” happens with partial arm swing, then “TURN” the upper torso and chest through at a steady smooth accelerating tempo the club in front of you through impact. Lastly, “HOLD” that position to a partial release with the clubface point skyward and no excess use of the hands.  Remember, let the body govern the shot and the arms respond to the body’s rotation. To regulate distance control, change the backswing length. To hit it higher on a pitch, finish a bit higher with the length.
