Three Ways Your Clubs May Be
Holding You Back

Now that we’re in the heart of the golf season, let’s take a good look at what you can do to improve your play for the rest of the year. While working on swing changes is the best path for long-term lasting improvement, a set of custom clubs can certainly go a long way in helping you see better results sooner than later.

Wait…don’t stop reading just yet. We know what you’re thinking. “Custom Clubs sound expensive. Aren’t those just for the better players?” The answer is: absolutely not.

The truth is, you can get a set of custom clubs or a custom-fit driver for about the same price as something “off the rack.” And, players of all levels can benefit from the use of the proper equipment.

So, how are your current clubs holding you back?

  1. OUTDATED CLUBS: Some players need to buy the latest gear every year, but many players hold on to their clubs for far too long. A set of new irons can be a big investment and you want to get the most bang for your buck. But, grooves can wear out, and advancements like moveable weight and adjustable drivers have come onto the market the last couple years. Examine your bag. When was the last time you replaced your driver, irons or wedges?
  2. ILL-FITTING CLUBS: Another common mistake is buying modern equipment that fits poorly. Putting the “latest” driver or irons in your bag may make you feel ready to play, but if it doesn’t fit it will hinder your performance and definitely cause you problems on the course.
  3. SET MAKEUP: A third area that players frequently miss in their bags is in set makeup. You likely have some gaps in your bag that leave you “between clubs” far too often. How many wedges should you play with? How many hybrids should be in your bag? Does a 3-wood make sense for you? For most players, these questions need to be answered. Ask your GolfTEC Coach about blended sets, hybrids and wedge options. You’ll be glad you did.

Why bother?

It’s simple really; a new set of custom clubs will help you in two distinct ways. First, you’ll have the right tools for the job in your hands on every shot. The fact that your clubs have the right length, shaft, lie angle and set makeup will help you deliver longer and more accurate shots more often. But second, and perhaps more important, is the confidence you’ll have when you play. There’s a certain feel that players have when they know they’re playing the right club. That confidence spills over into your overall performance. You’ll trust yourself off the tee and on those delicate pitches over a bunker.

So talk to a GolfTEC Coach about custom clubs today. You owe it to yourself to get the most out of this game. It’s hard enough as it is without using the best set of clubs for you.
