WHAT'S IN THE BAG?

Driver: NTitleist 905R Pro Titanium (9.5-degree); UST Proforce V2 shaft (66-gram), S-flex

With my driver, accuracy has always been more important to me than distance. Therefore, I have a shorter driver than most, cut down to 44.5 inches. Many drivers now come at a stock length of 45–46 inches. Even though my driver is a few years old, it suits me well and gives me a great deal of confidence, which is key in this game.

Fairway wood: Titleist 909F2 3-wood (15.5-degree); stock Aldila Voodoo fairway shaft, S-flex

I prefer a little more loft on the fairway wood with a higher launch, so I decided to go with the 909F2, instead of the 909F3. My swing speed also played a role in this decision. For the average player, I would recommend going with a 4- or 5-wood over a 3-wood. The additional loft is helpful with the longer clubs.

Hybrid: Titleist 585H (19-degree); UST Proforce V2 hybrid shaft (104-gram), S-flex

Four years ago, I said goodbye to my 3-iron…FOREVER! Hybrids are so easy to hit and so versatile from different lies on the course that anyone who is playing a 2-, 3-, or 4-iron really needs to reconsider their set makeup. It’s also a great club to hit off of the tee on tight par 4s and long par 3s. I rotate a 22-degree Cleveland Halo into my bag as well.

Irons: Mizuno MP-57 (5-PW); MX-200 (4-iron); Dynamic Gold S300 shaft

Two years ago, I switched from playing Titleist 704 CBs to Mizunos, as the forged irons offer a softer feel. I also chose the MP-57s because of the perimeter weighting, which helps with off-center hits. Playing once a week, I will take all the forgiveness I can get. It is very important to have your lie angle checked and fitted properly for your swing. Because the Mizunos are forged, I was able to easily bend all of my irons two degrees flat.

Wedges: Cleveland Reg. 588 Gunmetal Finish (51, 56, 60); Dynamic Gold Wedge-flex shaft

These are a great set of wedges that give me confidence around the greens and 100 yards and in. With your wedges, make sure you have the right gaps between each club. Also, know the bounce of each club and how to best use it. Typically, high-bounce wedges are suitable for soft, fluffy conditions, and low-bounce wedges for tie lights and firm turf.

Putter: Coutour Dornoch (CNC Milled, 32")

I have been putting with a custom-fit putter for the past few years, and what a difference it has made. Due to my height, I had my putter custom made to 32 inches with a head weight of 365 grams. The shorter length requires an increase in the weight of the putter head to optimize the overall swing weight. I can’t stress enough how important it is to play a properly-fit putter. Check with your Coach to look at the fit of your current putter.

Ball: Titleist Pro V1

The ProV1 is simply the best ball for my game. It gives me confidence and great feel on and around the greens.
