Billy Hurley III wins Quicken Loans National
Tiger Woods watched from the sideline at his own tournament this week as Billy Hurley III (-17) won his first PGA Tour event. Hurley III, 34, outlasted Vijay Singh (2nd), Ernie Els (5th) and hard-charging rookie phenom John Rahm (T-3) to claim $1.24 million at Congressional in Bethesda, Md.
A Naval Academy graduate in 2004 and armed service veteran, Hurley fired a 2-under final round of 69 while holing out for birdie from 35 yards on the 15th hole.

Add McIlroy and McDowell to list of Rio 2016 dropouts
The list of PGA Tour stars that will not be representing golf’s top tour at the Rio 2016 Olympics continues to grow as Rory McIlroy announced Wednesday that he will not be attending due to concerns over the Zika virus. The World No. 4 ranked golfer backtracked on previous statements that he would in fact be playing in Brazil. Countryman Graeme McDowell (OWGR No. 73) also informed the Olympic Council of Ireland that he too would not be available to represent his country in Rio.
Other PGA Tour players in the OWGR top 50 who have also ruled the Olympics out: Adam Scott (No. 8, Australia), Branden Grace ( No. 11, South Africa), Louis Oosthuizen (No. 14, South Africa), Charl Schwartzel (No. 23, South Africa), and Marc Leishman (No. 37, Australia)
Tiger getting stronger, still won’t rule out or confirm an Open Championship comeback
Tiger Woods spoke to the media during his tournament at Congressional this past weekend, citing that he is still getting back into golf shape. He wouldn’t rule out nor confirm a possible comeback this season, but did tell Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo that he’s trimming down and is “faster than he used to be.” Here’s Tiger presenting Billy Hurley III with his championship trophy in Bethesda.
