Anybody who has bought golf clubs for a kid knows the routine—you spend a few hundred dollars on a set that fits perfectly in May, and by the following spring the driver looks like a toy in your child’s hands and you’re headed back to the store. UpSwing Golf built its junior line to break that cycle. Its sets lengthen as the player grows, using a patented system that swaps in longer shafts and adds new clubs with the wrench that comes in the box. And every GOLFTEC location can now measure your junior golfer and order the right size in time for the holidays.

Patrick Nuber, center manager and director of instruction at GOLFTEC Lone Tree, has the sets on display in his bay, and he starts his pitch in the same place a skeptical parent would.

Real Equipment, Built for Smaller Swings

“The very first thing is that the product is high quality,” Nuber says.

He means that literally. Every UpSwing driver has a titanium head—the same material PING, TaylorMade and Callaway use in their adult drivers—and the Varsity driver is a full 460cc, the largest head the USGA allows. The shafts were developed with UST Mamiya in a junior flex, and the clubs were designed by Kevin Mayoux, an engineer UpSwing credits with more than 20 tour-winning clubs. The concept took the Inventors Spotlight award for Most Innovative Concept at the 2025 PGA Merchandise Show.

None of it is a cut-down adult club with a shortened grip. Head weights, flexes and lie angles are matched to the size and speed of the player at each stage.

Three Stages, One Bag of Clubs

UpSwing sizes by height, and the sets build on each other.

•     The Junior set ($399.99) fits golfers up to 50 inches tall and comes with a driver, 5-hybrid, 8-iron and putter, plus head covers and a stand bag.

•     The Jr. Varsity set ($599.99) fits golfers from 51 to 59 inches and adds a 3-wood, 6-iron and pitching wedge for seven clubs in all.

•     The Varsity set ($899.99) fits golfers 60 inches and taller and carries 11 clubs—driver, 3-wood, 4- and 5-hybrids, 6-iron through 9-iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge and putter.

UpSwing also makes a Galaxy version of each set, with shafts a half inch shorter and kick points tuned to that length.

The Math on Growing Up

The second thing Nuber wants parents to hear is about money. “Over time you can save money getting your child into longer sets without having to continually reinvest into a whole new set,” he says.

Take a golfer who starts in the Junior set. When she passes 50 inches, a $299.99 growth kit brings three new assembled clubs and four longer shafts for the clubs she already owns. Past 59 inches, a $349.99 kit adds four more clubs and seven shafts and turns the bag into a full Varsity set. Versions that include the next-size bag run $339.99 and $389.99.

Add it up and the Junior set plus both kits comes to $1,049.97. Buying all three sets outright would cost $1,899.97. That’s $850 back in the family budget.

“The growth set is way less than spending more for a complete additional set,” Nuber says. “You get additional clubs, the longer clubs, a longer bag, all that. It really just makes the upgrade process easy.”

Who Should Play UpSwing?

•     Young beginners who need clubs light enough to get the ball in the air and a putter they’ll actually want to use will fit the Junior set.

•     Kids in the middle of a growth spurt—the ones whose parents can’t predict next year’s height—get the most out of the growth kits.

•     Competitive juniors who are starting to hit different shots and plot their way around a course will want the 11-club Varsity set.

•     Families with more than one junior golfer can hand a grown-into set down the line and only buy the kit.
