Description

Struggling with a chicken wing follow-through? Learn how to fix it with simple drills from GOLFTEC Coaches and start hitting cleaner, more powerful shots.

00:00:00 The lesson today is to bend backwards in the shoulder for improved distance and contact in your golf swing.

00:00:42 Demonstrate how to bend backwards properly during a golf swing by using the butt of the club against your belly and keeping your arm straight while moving from address position to follow through.

00:01:36 Keep the club connected to the body during the follow through to avoid common problems with hitting the ball.

00:02:34 Make sure to avoid swaying away from the target and focus on weight moving towards the lead foot for better golf shots.

00:03:26 When doing this drill, gradually increase swing speed, lengthen the swing, and ensure head, chest, and shoulders are facing upwards towards the sky in the follow-through position.

🏌️‍♂️ Bending backwards in the follow-through is crucial for increasing distance in golf shots.

🔄 Keeping the head down too much can hinder a golfer's ability to hit the ball further and more consistently.

📏 Practicing with half swings and gradually increasing speed helps in mastering the backward bending technique.

00:00:00 welcome everybody to Fix My Fault i got my student Lexi here we're going to start working on some shoulder bend bending them backwards just like our fix my fault logo there uh so a common issue that a lot of golfers tell each other Lexi is keep your head down yep you came up on it i hear that too often and that reduces the amount that someone is going to bend backwards in the follow through and bending backwards is so important especially for distance you want to hit

00:00:23 the ball further you need to bend backwards but not only that shallowing the hit so that way you can swing into out you can avoid the ground too many good things for bending backwards so let's go ahead and do a drill that we're gonna cover first and then we're gonna try to apply it to our golf swing awesome sounds good

00:00:42 okay now let me go ahead and demonstrate this drill for you so um you're going to go ahead and put the butt of the club into your belly and then you're going to grip down on the shaft and keep your arm straight like you normally would fantastic okay so I'm going to mirror image you just so you know all right so you're going to stay right there bend over like you normally would excellent okay while keeping that butt of the club inside we call it just the belly all

00:01:06 right okay um so from there we're going to try to bend backwards from our dress position to our follow through and bending backwards with the hips going towards target okay fantastic now do it again that is a really good way of just demonstrating the bendward bending backward form because if you stop right there if I just had you um pretty much vertical that would be zero bend right there okay so if you bent forward now okay and then moved your hips away from the target you're going to start

00:01:36 separating that butt of the club from your body so it's no longer going to be demonstrating correctly okay okay so do it one more time that butt of the club is in that belly position there and then go into your follow through keeping it connected fantastic that's what we need to feel at the uh follow through there okay now too many times individuals are trying to keep their head down or staying down on it and that involves them with bending forward too many times it keeps them

00:02:04 from hitting the ball far further keeps them from hitting the ball just more consistent i mean you name it there's a lot of problems that is involved here okay so I want the head I want the the the the shoulders and everything to start bending backwards to be able to get into a really good follow through okay now let's go ahead and apply that to just like a little half swing here okay okay that same feeling so no ball keep doing it every time no ball go ahead and do just a parallel to the

00:02:34 ground and then same feeling for when that that butt of the club was in the belly position there there you go good a common mistake with this drill is swaying away from the target too much we've talked about sways make sure the sways keep going towards the target okay and the weight still feels like it's moving on that lead foot there you go good nicely done all right i think you're ready to hit a ball now cool i've leveled up still kind of that half swing and everything nice

00:03:12 good not going to hit the ball super far with these half swings which is just fine but really start building up that speed after you get really good with these half swings and some really good shots just moving forward from

00:03:26 this nice so as you're doing this drill you want to slowly work up the speed at which you're swinging and then lengthen your swing after that bingo just stay with like this club parallel to the ground to just in the follow through position and you're just really checking yourself if you're bending up towards the sky that chest needs to be pointed up towards the sky the head needs to be following the ball it shouldn't be looking at where the ball was anymore it's gone so you

00:03:53 need to be starting to look and a lot of individuals will try to keep that head down and that really starts bending that neck in a forward position and that keeps you bending backwards so I need that chin to be up i need the the shoulders to be pointed up to the sky and the shoulders be bending backwards okay okay especially in that follow through so one more time

00:04:15 nice really good really good there exaggerate it fantastic Lexi hey
